Independence Day Feast

Posted on

Two weeks ago I have had the pleasure to work as photographer at one of my favourite local restaurants, Ben's Canteen. You might remember the name, as I've already written about it here and here.

The occasion was the Independence Day Feast organized by Noshable, a pop-up dinner which took place on the 4th of July.

The 3-course meal featured American classics made with the finest Cornish ingredients, supplied by Cornish Grill.

On arrival, the guests were greeted with a glass of house cocktail and a packet of Billy Franks jerky.

The starter was Rare-breed Pulled Pork, Corn Dogs with atomic peppers and a coffee-infused barbecue sauce dip. The sauce was amazing and enhanced the pork and pepper's flavours.

The main course was Slow-cooked dry-aged Cornish Beef Brisket in a French Dip sandwich w with sweet potato ‘tater tots’ and slaw. Now, those tater tots were a true discovery, lighter than fries but equally satisfying!

Cornish ice-cream floats were also served as dessert, while Picklebacks were available to order at the bar - not advisable if you're there to work as a photographer and need to stay sharp! ;)

It was a busy evening with two sold out sittings, lots of tasty food and drinks, on a warm and miraculously dry summer day!

I will be on the look out for more events by Noshable and Cornish Grill - there are exciting things in the pipeline from this duo! Stay tuned!

You can also find a selection of my photos on the Ben's Canteen website.
