Beastie Egg by Hotel Chocolat

Easter is around the corner and, although weather-wise it still feels like Christmas, at least we have an excuse to eat lots of chocolate!
I never buy Easter Eggs for myself, as I think they should be given and received as a gift. I am not sure if this is a real tradition or it's just me being used to receive treats from my mum, grandma and aunt! :)
Anyway, I wouldn't even know where to buy good quality chocolate eggs in London, so I immediately took on the offer to review the Cow Beastie Egg by Hotel Chocolat.
The Cow Beastie Eggs is a milk chocolate egg, printed on the outside with natural cocoa butter, to create a cow pattern (it is also available with a zebra design). I like this idea of a chocolate egg that is, not only good, but also stylish.
I personally think that the Cow Beaste Egg would make a perfect gift for female colleagues, friends and teenagers.
It is nicely wrapped in transparent paper, so you know exactly what you are buying.
In Italy, Easter eggs are always wrapped hidden in coloured foil and come with a surprise inside (usually a little toy or plastic jewellery). I very much prefer English eggs, which instead of a toy, come with...more chocolate!
The Beastie Egg comes with six praline and salted caramel mini eggs. These were very tasty, big enough to eat in two bites, and filled with moist praline or gooey caramel.
The egg chocolate itself was very good, with a thick shell and a sweet taste (with hints of caramel I would say). I normally prefer dark chocolate eggs, as I love biting through a crunchy chocolate piece, taste the bitterness of the chocolate that slowly melts in your mouth. The Hotel Chocolat egg was instead very sweet and I felt like I had to pair it with bread or a biscuit, to balance the sweetness out.
Overall, I was impressed with the quality of this Hotel Chocolat Easter Egg. It's good to know that they offer good luxurious chocolate at affordable prices.
I have had a look at their Easter range online and all the chocolate eggs look beautiful. I would definitely buy it as a gift in the future.
