My Indian Holidays

Posted on

My trips to Mumbai at the end of autumn have now become a regular occurrence in my calendar. Every year, me and my husband Sandy travel to India to visit his family for about two weeks. We try to escape the big city when we can, so two years ago we travelled to Rajasthan, while last year we spent most of the time in Mumbai, getting engaged and celebrating Diwali.

This year we had a special reason to stay in Mumbai: our hindu wedding! Friends from all over the world and family joined us in Mumbai, making us feel incredibly lucky and happy!

After a crazy week spent getting ready for the big day, we escaped to south Goa with ten friends and had a sweet and relaxing - albeit too short - honeymoon. Before coming back to London, we squeezed in a 1-day round trip from Mumbai to Gujarat, where we prayed at the family temple and received blessings for our future married life.

Most of the time, we were moving (ie. jumping on a rickshaw) from one place to another, running errands or meeting friends, so I didn't get to use my Nikon D-SLR much. Thanks to my iPhone, I always had a camera with me to document the highlights of the trip.

If you already follow me on Instagram, Facebook or Google+ you might have already seen these photos, though I hope you will still enjoy this round-up post of my favourite moments in India!

Thanks so much, Nelly! The 'mehendi' was not easy to endure...I was left alone in the house with only old aunties speaking Gujarati and staring at me! In return, I was staring at my hands and hoping the time would pass by quickly! ;)
